About Heritage Hockey
In 2008, the Board of Education approved the addition of ice hockey to the interscholastic athletic program at Heritage High School. This began a new era of Hockey in Littleton Public Schools. Over the past several years, the hockey program has grown from one team playing the winter Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) season, to a year round program to develop players and support the student athletes.
Heritage has both a varsity and a JV team that participates in the Fall Colorado Prep Hockey League (CPHL) that runs from August to November.
The winter CHSAA season starts with tryouts in November and kicks off the season with games in early December. The varsity season concludes at the end of February and state playoffs typically run through early March.
Heritage JV started in 2012. The JV team participates simultaneously in the CHSAA winter league and the winter Colorado Prep Hockey league. Participating in both ensures that the JV players get ample opportunity to play games to further develop their skills.
Heritage Hockey offers several options for off season development in the summer. Our on-ice activities include; skating, skills, game situational play, and Shinny’s where players can put into play the skills they have learned. Heritage hockey will run hockey- specific strength and conditioning sessions at Heritage High School and finally we top of the summer with the Heritage Hockey Leadership Camp. The camp has physical activities that consist of a series of real and imaginary obstacles created to challenge groups and individuals to work together to accomplish a task.
At Heritage Hockey we truly believe that High School hockey is more than just about the sport—it is all about playing multiple sports, striving for academic success, achieving good attendance, ALWAYS displaying proper behavior, promoting your school and community through your sport and being a part of something bigger than yourself.
